Long ago back in the 1980's Jake Burton Carpenter along with Andy Coghlan handcrafted the first Burton Snowboards in a small barn in Londonderry, VT. It was a relatively simple wood ply construction of a "surfable" shape that worked in even just a few inches of fresh snow and slush. The Throwback reissue of the original Backhill now replicates that classic shape along with the power cord rope to hold on and rubber traction mat to keep your feet gripping the deck. It's meant for taking to local sledding hills, off-piste powder fields and other non-resort snow stashes when you want to get in some fun turns. It does not have or can be installed with bindings as well as no steel edges that would allow it to ride a resort lift chair. When the Throwback came out I grabbed one myself to put in some hikes and get back to the roots of where I started my riding long ago. Its always in my gear bag for finding my own little stashes of freshies and getting those turns in!

Perfect board for a snowy day in the backyard. Easy to hop on and get the feel of some back in the day riding. Take it to the neighbor hill and show those kids what snowboard really was! Shred!

Get back to the old days of snowboarding. Rope, some rubber, and an piece of wood. Best used in deep snow. Classic fun in deep snow in the back country, or back yard...

Great for that little sesh with your buddies. Can be hours of fun in the backyard as the wooden edges provide little in terms of turn performance and offer you some technical riding on the most gradual of slopes.
