When you have passion for the industry that you work in, it shows day in and day out. We are very fortunate at Buckman’s to have a staff that simply loves all things related to skiing and snowboarding.
As a locally owned and operated ski and snowboard shop, we know the importance of providing an outstanding shopping experience from the moment you walk in the doors. So that is why this season we decided to introduce you to some of the awesome employees that have helped us to become the company that we are today.
In today’s installment of our “Faces Behind the Name Series’ we want you to meet one of our store managers, Alan Stewart. A manager at our King of Prussia store, Alan is one of our longest tenured employees and also one of our snowboard buyers.
Alan has been snowboarding since 1986 and simply cannot get enough of it. He has been working with us since 1992 (with a 3 1/2 year stint at K2 Snowboards thrown in there too).
We asked Alan what was the one thing that he liked most about working at Buckman’s and he told us “That my career in the snowboard industry at a family-owned company is also my passion in life.” You don’t have to be around Alan very long to see how this is true!
Everyone has their favorite place to ride, and Alan told us that his favorite resort is Jackson Hole, Wyoming. For Alan it’s the “perfect combo of backcountry and resort riding. Also home to the restaurant where I had my best EVER steak dinner!!” He went on tell us that “Riding with my family is one of the greatest feelings. Seeing the same enjoyment in their faces that I get out of it is the best”.
This year Alan will be shredding it up on the slopes with a brand new Capita DOA snowboard with Union Contact Pro bindings and DC Judge boots. His helmet of choice is an Anon helmet and for goggles he will be rocking Oakleys. Combine that with some Dakine Outerwear and some Crabgrab traction and Alan will be all set and ready to ride.
One of the many perks of working at Buckman’s Ski and Snowboard is being able to have access to all the latest ski and snowboard gear. This season, Alan is also looking forward to checking out the new clothing from Volcom and of course all the new boards.
Lastly, we asked him to give us his recommendation for something small that is important to bring to the hill but is often over-looked. He told us to always have an extra pair of gloves and socks with you when you hit the slopes. It’s nice to be able to swap out your socks at lunch for added comfort in the afternoon and who knows when you may lose a glove off the lift. Great advice, Alan!
So there you have it - another face behind the name. The next time you are in the King of Prussia store and need a hand with anything related to snowboarding, Alan will be there to help you out. In fact, any of our dedicated employees are always available to help you with all your skiing and snowboarding needs. We pride ourselves on delivering outstanding customer service, every time. Head over to any of our six retail locations or shop us online and discover what the Buckman’s experience is all about!
See you on the slopes!
